Most men know about toning their bodies, from running through the park or sweating it out at the gym. But, a lot of men don’t know that there’s another type of toning done in the bathroom. Using a toner is a great way to help your skin’s health and remove the dirt that you come into contact with during the day.
What does a toner do to your face?
A toner acts as the middle ground between your cleanser and moisutriser. It can’t be used purely to clean your face as it needs to be used on already clean skin in order to have the best effect.
Is toner bad for your skin?
Toner is great for your skin when it’s used correctly. Some people use a toner to clean their face but that’s not what it’s really for. As we mentioned, cleanse your skin first then use your toner as a kind of foundation to prep you for moisturiser or other products.
As with anything, the better the ingredients the better it is for your skin. Our Multi-Action Toner contains vitamin E, elderberry extract and glycerin. Specially formulated to cleanse the skin, leaving it feeling refreshed and hydrated. Try and steer clear of alcohol-based toners as they can exacerbate existing skin conditions.
Do you use moisturiser or toner first?
Use your toner first then hit the moisturiser. Toning your face first will help your skin absorb the moisutriser better, giving you maximum hydration. You could also use a toner before you shave to help prevent your pores from clogging and reduce the risk of ingrown hairs.
Apply skin toner by shaking the bottle to ensure everything is mixed properly. You can either apply straight to your face or use a cotton pad to move the toner across your head, cheeks, nose, and chin. Most men concentrate on their T-zone (forehead and bridge of nose) as this is where oil commonly builds up. Remember to make sure your skin is dry before you apply moisturiser.
